# Create a stage

This call lets you create a [stage](reference#get-a-stage) defined in a [pipeline](reference#getting-a-specific-pipeline).

> 📘 Stage Names
>
> You can not duplicate a stage name in a pipeline. If you try, your request will fail and you will see the error `stage name already exists`.

> 🚧 Content Type and Auth
>
> Make sure to send url-encoded requests to this endpoint and provide authorization in any request you make on your own.
